“You are so stupid, you don’t know what justice is.”
An old man turning onto Fairhope Avenue leaned out of his window and yelled this at the young people of Peaceful BLM Across Fairhope who were kneeling and chanting on the corner.
A few minutes later a carload of boys drove by. One stood up through the sunroof and shouted “f—- you.”
As the others held signs that said “Black Lives Matter” and “Unity in Community," one girl gave the old man a hand heart. She gave the boys one too.
Many more drivers honked at the protesters who were speaking up for themselves.
Many more drivers waved at those who were standing up for justice.
Many more passing by supported young people caring for each other and what is right.
There is nothing stupid about that.
