On This Day
April 12, 2025
On this day church bells chimed at noon. Prayer request cards were filled out for the health of a friend named "Stick" and for a daughter's toxic relationship that will "get worse before it gets better."
Crawfish crawled and clawed in a pot. A girl squealed, "Stop that crawfish from looking at me."
"God SEE Everything" was on an old movie marquee. Two Capuchin monkeys rode sheepdogs herding sheep. A dad taught his daughter the box step as a band played "Black Magic Woman."
“The World Needs Hope” cartoon was taped to a window of the Clarksdale Press Register newspaper—the newspaper’s editor worked at his desk behind it
Dirt was turned over by tractors in fields across the Delta. Fire burned weeds in ditches, covering roads with smoke.
The blues was played in clubs, coffee shops, alleys, street corners, and blocked-off intersections. A guitar player said, "That's dirty. You might need to take a shower after that."
All on this day.
